Singapore is famous for its many, many shopping malls, scattered all over the island. Expect everything from the uber-glitzy to the more conventional - but no less exciting! Locals love shopping - a favorite pastime on weekends and Friday evenings.

Singapore's shopping malls ordinarily each have a theme, catering to one main target group. A mall featuring mainly designer brands, for example. Or a mall just for sporting gear, or one specializing in children's needs, such as toys, kid's books and clothes. There are also several well-stocked department stores along Orchard Road, each of them integrated into a shopping mall. Expect younger labels with exciting fashion, sassy jewelry and accessories, modern household items and fancy homewares. You will also notice that there is always a food court nearby, usually integrated into the mall and located in its basement.
